Delbert A. “Del" Campbell, Jr.
NORTHPORT | Delbert A. “Del" Campbell, Jr., age 64, of Northport, died July 30,
2006 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today in
Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. John Nixon officiating and Magnolia Chapel
Funeral Home North directing.
His parents, Virginia and Delbert A. Campbell, Sr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Tidmore Campbell; daughters, Kelly Campbell
Verzino (David) of Tuscaloosa and Andrea Campbell Kirkland (Jamey) of Northport;
brother, Chris A. Campbell (Phyllis) of Tuscaloosa; grandson, Nicola Grant
Verzino; mother-in-law, Dorothy Tidmore; brother-in-law, Bill Tidmore (Jan);
niece, Traci Tidmore Taft (Brett); and nephews, Cameron Tidmore (Courtney) and
Travis Tidmore (April).
“Del" was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High “Black Bear" Class of 1960. He and his
brother owned and operated Campbell Furniture and Appliance. He served in the
Navy Reserve during the Vietnam War. “Del" was an avid fisherman and among other
interests, he enjoyed model airplane flying and being a ham radio operator. He
was a member of Northport Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be David Verzino, Jamey Kirkland, Joe Lancaster, Cleon
Richardson, Bill Tidmore, Kendall Hanby and Marbury Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Dirk Berry and staff, DCH Regional Medical Center,
4 South doctors and staff, Tuscaloosa Nephrology Associates, University Surgical
Associates PC, DaVita Dialysis Center, friends at Phifer Incorporated, members
of Northport Baptist, Class of 1960 Tuscaloosa High School and friends and
neighbors of Northwood Lake.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the
Alabama Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box 12505, Birmingham, AL 35202.
