Jimmie Jean Sims Moore



TUSCALOOSA Jimmie Jean Moore, age 68, passed away June 2, 2011, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Charles Herron officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of 51 ˝ years, Rayburn “Buddy” Moore; her daughters, Lisa Moore (John) of Tuscaloosa and Lori Pittman (Chuck) of Cottondale; her mother, Gladys C. Sims of Northport; her grandsons, Andy Moore and Kevin Moore of Moundville; her brother, Jacky Sims (Anne) of Tuscaloosa; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Powell of Birmingham and Nita Moore of Carrollton, Ga.; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Sims; her in-laws, Orman and Kate Moore; and her brothers-in-law, Jack Moore and Charlie Powell.

Pallbearers will be Andy Moore, Kevin Moore, Chuck Powell, Mike Moore, Jason Moore, Anthony Emerson, Mitchell Moore, and Chris Sims.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. After 26 years of service, she retired from The University of Alabama Admissions Office.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Pamboukian, Dr. Tallaj, Dr. Bourge, and staff of UAB HT ICU 5th Floor and Kirklin Clinic for the compassionate care Jimmie received during her 14-year illness with pulmonary hypertension.
