BOGUE CHITTO, MISS. Rev. Troy L. Massey, Sr., age 67, of Bogue Chitto,
Miss., died Sept. 25, 2009, at home. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mt.
Moriah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church
Cemetery with Riverwood Family Funeral Service directing. Visitation will be
today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Frances Massey; sister,
Maxine Shirley and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Smalley
of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Smalley Massey; son, Troy L. Massey, Jr.
(Lena) of Waskom, Texas; daughters, Terri Esch (Clint) of Bogue Chitto, MS.
and Tracy Bell (Darrell) of Jackson, MS.; brother, James Massey (Carolyn) of
Coker, Ala.; sister, Reba Sellers (Troy) of Cottondale, Ala. and five
grandchildren, Brooke and Trey Esch, Jordan and Peyton Bell, and Haleigh
Massey.
Rev. Massey attended college at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall,
Texas and postgraduate studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He served Southern Baptist Churches in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana,
Wyoming, Florida and Pennsylvania. He also served as Director of Missions
for South Central Baptist Association in the state of Pennsylvania for eight
years. Commissioned also by the North American Mission Board, SBC. Members
of MS Baptist Chaplains Association; he was also a member of the Lions Club
of Quarryville, PA. and former Trustee of New Orleans Baptist Theological
Seminary.
